The neutral stand on this issue is that; Nigerians protested during Goodluck Jonathan government, when they were not happy and that protest was led by some people who were in opposition then. So anyone can lead a protest today, in 2019, in 2023, etc., so long as it's not violent.
Protest is actual a good thing and is meant to point out some of the flaws of the Government or organizations when things are not going as it should hence the proposed protest to be held on the 5th of February 2017 by 2face with the support of some other individuals in the society. The protest has gathered momentum with some other celebrities as they are called and few politicians in Nigeria has thrown their weight behind the protest.
But looking at it critically, there are certain things I cannot understand in this proposed protest and that is the missing points I am trying to point out. What I don’t seem to understand is whether the proposed protest is against Buhari or against the misrule of this country for 17 years now that resulted into the economy of this country been plundered? I await the answer from the organizer.
Well if the proposed protest is against GM Buhari that means the organizer has not have his channel tuned properly and at that it is going to be assumed that the protest has a political undertone and ethnic bigotry.
If any protest is to be carried out in Nigeria and for people to take the issue seriously and support all, that means it has to be devoid of one sided ethnic bigotry throwing their full weight behind the organizer and a political side sponsoring the protest. As it is, it seems this is a protest against Buhari and therefore, 2face should just cover his face and call it off as this might be the beginning of the ending as far as music career is concerned.
Let 2face call the protest off and set a new date taking into consideration that the protest is going to be against all the politicians that has been directing the affairs of this country since 1999 todate. All of them are to be held responsible and to account for their stewardship since 1999 todate.
People Democratic Party (PDP) ruled Nigeria for 16 years and squandered the economy of the country especially during Goodluck Jonathan era such that today no fund to run the government enterprise. These same people when they see that the country has gone against PDP because of their misrule, and might not likely be voted come 2015 election time, they all moved to All Progressive Party. The same people are now planning mega party and thereby continue this rotation agenda just to keep themselves in power and instead of 2face and cohort s to reason along that line they say Buhari is the culprit and at this juncture I say who is foolish now and who is fooling who? The foolish ones now are those that did not read between the lines and just stood up I want to support 2face ride on.
Lets begin to point out the missing points
· When Goodluck Jonathan who earned $51trn in his five years administration and squandered it where was 2face;
· When dollars became the official of currency of Nigeria under GEJ and the external reserves that was buckled up by Yardua was emptied where was 2face and the supporter now;
· When bloated contracts in billions of dollars were been awarded to Jonathan kindred and the contracts not executed where was 2face and his supporters to protest that
· When the external reserves that was meant to cushing the present day economic turbulent were been squandered where was 2face and the likes and even himself romancing the power that be then and collecting prados multiple millions and sponsored delegations to Dubai was is not in this fund that was supposed to be for all Nigerians
· The salary and allowance of the two upper and lower houses at the federal level that we all see as been too much in an economy that was not good right from 1999 where was 2face and the supporters to protest that and say let these houses be turned to part time sitting and salary and allowance cut to cater for other things, 2face did not think is necessary to protest that
· When chartered flight were been used to ferry billions to Ekiti for fayose election where was 2face
· When GEJ himself started distributing dollars by himself to selected few prior to 2015 elections where was 2face
· When Jonathan started borrowing money to pay even salary of the federal workers in 2014 where was 2face and the supporters now to protest what wrong the generated funds that resulted in him borrowing
· When okonjo iweala said in 2014 that Nigeria should prepared for a harder days ahead that the failure of the then administration which we know is was GEJ to save towards a rainy day as we are, where was 2face to call Jonathan to account for that statement in the midst of plenty
· When billions of dollars were been ferry to South Africa and when Deziani was reaping the NNPC accounts of billions of dollars into her personal accounts where was the organizer of this ill supported protest by ill people
I can go on like that. Do we now say those administrators in these past era did a good job in sending our economy to comatose? With their misrule; No they are actually the cause of the situation we are in today. For instance somebody slip and staggered few steps forward before falling down and the person started cursing the final spot where he fell when what actually cause his fall was where his slips. Today everybody is blaming Buhari for the slips of 16 years misrule when petrol is funny how people think in this part of the world.
Finally, 2face should know that he has no moral justification to organize this type of protest having been beneficiary of the ruthlessness that landed us to this point. And again fayose coming out to support and people hailing that is like the country called Nigeria is sleeping too deep that we don’t know what we want and don’t want.
Credible protest can be organize by credible people to protest not against Buhari but against all the politicians past and present for the role they played in sending the economy of this country into comatose and their selfishness.
These should be the categories of group and people to protest against;
· The Executive Arm of Government from 1999 to date both at the Federal level and State level for their recklessness in handling state fund;
· The Legislators from 1999 to date especially the two federal houses for their outraged salary and allowance and advocate for the two house to be a partime sittings;
· The Judiciary who always protect corrupt officers using various injuctions and blame the rightful person while exonerate the wrongful person
· The beneficiaries of these looted fund should also be protested against so that they will know that is not the right thing to support looting by embezzling the fund that is supposed for the running of the country while you go to them to collect your shares
The most annoying thing about this protest is that some Professor, Phd holders otherwise call Dr. and lawyers who are supposed to lecture the society based on the education and knowledge about the state of affairs of the nations as it were cannot differentiate either what a shame.
The most shameful act is Fayose who benefited immensely from the plundered fund that ruins the economy of this country is shouting here and there supporting what they created. Big shame.
If there must be a protest, check my points up there and let us all gather together and say to the politicians that we are not fools otherwise this your protest is a further demonstration of the fools they call you.
